Smart as a whip and eternally armed with a biting one-liner, Gore Vidal was superstar of American literature as well as a true gay trailblazer. Vidal had no problem telling the likes of Warhol, Norman Mailer, Ronald Reagan and countless others exactly what he thought of them. And yet the guy also had considerable compassion and heart.
