NYT Weighs In on the President’s Lack of Commitment on Marriage Equality :

“But, by failing to go the next step and actually say that he supports the freedom to marry as Mr. Biden does and as polls show nearly a majority of Americans do, Mr. Obama risks dampening the enthusiasm of allies without gaining the support of equality’s opponents. It’s not an unfamiliar place for this president to be, unfortunately.

It would be good for a broad range of Americans to see him articulate a clear position of principle and then defend it before the voting public.”

Watch This Video – It Could Happen To You:

Andy Towle comments:

“Shane Bitney Crone has marked the one-year anniversary of his boyfriend of six years, Tom Bridegroom, with a devastating video, It could happen to you, chronicling what happened to him after Tom’s sudden death. If there’s anyone in your life who doesn’t understand the familial rejection, the institutional discrimination, and the bias that gay couples face every day, here’s one man’s account. “

Devastating! We need equality now. Stand up and fight.

One Colorado to host rally, press conference urging full House debate on civil union bill:

Earlier today, the GOP Speaker told the Denver Post the full house may not get to vote on the bill. One Colorado is planning a rally tomorrow. Their Facebook invite included the following:

“Civil unions has received bipartisan support in the Colorado Senate and in two House Committees. But Republican leadership in the House is threatening to kill the bill by keeping it from being voted on by all our Representatives.

On Tuesday, May 8, supporters of the legislation will rally on the West Steps of the State Capitol and call for a full up-or-down vote in the House.

If we want civil unions to be debated in the House (where it has enough votes to pass), we need to show House leadership how widespread support for civil unions is — so please join us!”
