Parenting, in my view, is much about learning how to tap into what motivates your child…. this is brilliant!

It is amazing to me how bigots have no insight. I think in a few years, people will look back at the hate and intolerance – I wonder how many “Christians” will hide then what they do so openly today.

This young woman is a dynamite speaker and does a great job of demonstrating the hypocrisy and hatred that has taken over the religious right in this country. And she does it very well!
A Rant Against the Rants

I came across this article in a link from Purple Unions. Author Bill Hanson, in dot429, decides to rant on the tired old anti-gay rhetoric – and he does a really good job. The areas tackled are:
- Homosexuality is not “natural
- Homosexual couples cannot reproduce
- The Bible states that homosexuality is wrong
- Allowing gays to marry will cause the American society to collapse
- God made Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve – “Anyone who uses this argument to justify their anti-gay sentiments is not worth talking to. Turn around, walk away, and don’t look back. Normally, stupidity is not contagious. However, in extreme cases like this, it’s not worth the chance. Entertaining this argument might actually be a sin itself. Approach with caution.”
It’s a good, quick read (catch it here) and really drives the point home…. there really are no good arguments against equality.
Six Things Straight People Should Stop Saying About Gay People

I came across this article yesterday. The author states that, 10 years ago, she had said all of these things. I have heard all of these statements too many times to count. Its a good article with real facts to support it. Share it with your friends – So much of the discrimiation we face is based on ignorance rather than malice. Educating people is our greatest weapon in our fight toward equality
From the Article:
“You can choose to continue oppressing fellow citizens, offend gay friends and family members, and push people away from the benefits of faith communities by repeating the above statements OR you can get informed and and stop saying ignorant, hurtful things.
Remember:
- Gay people have lives, not “lifestyles”.
- God is a clever designer; the parts do fit and work quite well for same-sex loving couples.
- Homosexuality is a natural expression of human sexuality.
- People do not change sexual orientation.
- Marriage is a civil right in the US.
- The Bible is being wrongly used to discriminate against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
We are guilty in families, society, workplaces and churches of oppressing a class of people because of our own ignorance and isolation. Be better than that. Get into relationships with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and get informed.
And stop saying stupid stuff.”

The Muppets Tell Chick-Fil-A Buh Bye

Jim Henson Company has issued a statement on their Facebook Wall:
“The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/)”
The entertainment company has sold the chain its Creature Shop toys for their children’s meal.
This is important. We are seeing more companies supporting equality and choosing to call out those who are not just vocal about being anti-gay, but are actively trying to deny us our rights. Chick-Fil-A has donated heavily to anti-gay organziations in the past.
