Thousands Rally in Paris for Same-Sex Marriage Bill

On Sunday, the French showed their support for marriage equality as thousands gathered to rally in Paris for same-sex marriage bill. In face, police estimate that 125,000 individuals marched in the streets to show support for the same-sex marriage bill that is set to go up for debate by lawmakers this Tuesday.
The French President, François Hollande, had promised during his campaign that he would legalize gay marriage within a year of taking office. He took office back in May of 2012 and there are hopes that the bill could indeed pass and become law by this time. According to the New York Times, the bill, “redefines marriage to stipulate that it is ‘contracted between two persons of different sex or of the same sex,’ and the words “father” and “mother” in existing legislation are replaced by “parents.” The bill also would allow married same-sex couples to adopt children.”
A recent poll released by the French Institute of Public Opinion, 63 percent of the French favor same-sex marriage and 49 percent are for adoption by same-sex couples.
Passing of the bill would be monumental for marriage equality in France and would help to set a precedent for the United States and other European nations.

Names: Christina and Jill
Residence: Monroe, New York
Occupation: Owners of Melange Med Spa
How did you meet? We met when I (Christina) interviewed Jill for a job.
How long have you been together? We’ve been together for 5 years
What is your relationship status? We are living together and are engaged to be married.
What is your favorite activity together? We spend a lot of time together since we own our own business. We love going to shows, cooking and being active – we laugh a lot when we are in motion! We are great companions to each other and love just just hanging out.
How do you deal with anti-gay adversity as a couple? We just live our lives like everyone else. We try to take advantage of lesbian vacations and events.
Are there any world changing or creative projects you do as a couple? We would love to show our lives on TV in a REAL Reality Show, not some souped up show, but the real deal deal – fights, kids, laughter, pain , work, all of it!
What is the secret to staying together? Our mortgage, LOL! We own a business together, so anything we can do to be supportive to the LGBT community through that is beneficial. Staying together is good communication. We would miss each other terribly if we weren’t together!
What sets you apart/makes you unique as a couple? We were once married to men and we each had two kids. We both left our marriages and fought for each other. Today we have built our own home together, we have our own business, have four kids (3 teen girls and a 9 year old boy) – We count on each other, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. To say that and mean it, that’s unique!
Our “Inspiring Couples” series features LGBT couples around the world sharing their secrets to navigating a relationship, dealing with adversity and celebrating their love. If you would like to share your story, contact us as dan@homoquotables.com

Daniel Radcliffe, the star of the Harry Potter films, has had a varied career. In addition to the 8 HP movies, he has starred on the stage in Equus and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (which I got see – He was great), TV and, most recently in the independent film Kill Your Darlings, in which he plays beat poet Allen Ginsberg. The movie recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and the media was full of questions… not about the murder in the movie, or the significance of the beat generation on art and culture, but sex. Specifically gay sex. In the movie, Radcliffe has several sex scenes with other men. Ginsberg, after all, was gay. According to Nick Carter of the Inependent, Daniel is “weirded out” over the focus on the sex.
“I don’t know why a gay sex scene should be any more shocking than a straight sex scene. Both of them are equally un-shocking.”
Radcliffe went on to wonder why he was getting attention about playing a gay poet, when in Equus he plays a young man sexually attracted to horses.

Radcliffe has been an outspoken supported of gay rights and a spokesman for the teen suicide prevention organization The Trevor Project.
I can’t wait to see the film!
