Raspy-voiced Broadway performer Harvey Fierstein is often cast for comic relief in big-budget Hollywood films. But make no mistake about it, Fierstein is a Tony-winning powerhouse and a highly influential voice in the LGBT community. From Hairspray to Kinky Boots to Torch Song Trilogy and beyond, Fierstein has been part of some of the biggest Broadway hits of the last 30 years. Fierstein also uses his platform to speak out against inequality and writes frankly on LGBT issues. So we thought what better way to kick off the week than words of wisdom from the man himself?
