Dan Savage Invites NOM’s Brian Brown to After Dinner Debate

After Dan Savage told high school journalism students, “We can learn to ignore the bullshit in the Bible about gay people.” He was challenged to a debate by the head bigot at the National Organization for Marriage, a virulently anti gay group with ties to both the Catholic and Mormon Churches. The New Civil Rights Movement reports that Dan has named the time and place:

“So, what I’d like to do is invite you to dinner. Bring the wife. My husband will be there. I will hire a video crew and we will video sort of an after dinner debate.”

“You have to acknowledge my humanity by accepting my hospitality, and I have to acknowledge your by extending my hospitality to you.”

I love Dan Savage. He is unapologetically honest about what he believes and is never intimidated by the opposition. I can’t wait to see how this goes. I wonder if Brown will accept the offer… It will be hard to spout his hateful lies in the Savage home.
